Founder & Creative Director of Om Lounge, Suzanne Nagel has been practicing yoga for almost 20 years. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, she worked in television news and marketing before making the transition to full time yoga teacher. After completing her initial 200 hour training nearly a decade ago, Suzanne began her advanced trainings in Venice, California with Kate Duyn and Mary Dana Abbott. Suzanne is currently studying her 300 hour advanced training with Faith Hunter, the creator of Spiritually Fly Method and Elevate Om. Known for sequencing creative classes, Suzanne has a knack for bringing soulfulness and insight to her teaching and yet her inner feistiness and playfulness are always present. In addition to her thousands of hours teaching in the studio, she has taught yoga retreats in Tulum, Mexico and many yoga workshops as well as Continued Education and Advanced workshops for Yoga teachers. Suzanne's love for yoga is undeniable and led her to create The Om Lounge Yoga & Wellness studio.
Alexi was lucky enough to discover yoga at the sweet age of sixteen, when her friends thought it would be something fun to try. From that very first class, she was hooked. A dancer her entire life, the fluid movement of vinyasa flow resonated with her, and also built strength in her body and mind that she didn’t know she needed. As her love and passion grew and she began a full time career in finance, her yoga practice became even more important. Alexi decided that she wanted to share her love of yoga. She took the leap and went through 200 hour teacher training in 2014. Alexi is known for challenging classes, moving through poses that are thoughtfully connected, with arm balances and peak poses always incorporated. In addition to years of studio classes, Alexi is a returning instructor of The Om Lounge training program. She has also taught at yoga retreats in Tulum, Mexico, as well as yoga festivals and various workshops in Pittsburgh.
Olivia is a Pittsburgh native who has loved yoga ever since she bought a $5 yoga DVD and tried it in her basement 7 years ago. Olivia has a passion for all things wellness, and loves a good sweat just as much as a quiet meditation. Olivia especially appreciates the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits that yoga has brought to her life, and as she grew in her yoga practice, her desire to teach grew as well. Olivia completed her 200hr Teacher Training through the Om Lounge where she learned to teach the way that she loves to practice: incorporating body, mind and spirit into practice. Olivia enjoys a flow that challenges the body, invigorates the mind and moves the soul. She enjoys balancing asanas, fluid transitions, and a thoughtful message. She is very excited to be assisting the Om Lounge training and sharing this path with others.
For Lauren, yoga became a way to get through the bumpy times in life- her mat became a safe space to work out the daily stressors and cope with her emotions. She always left class with a newfound peace, inspiring her to complete the 200 hour teacher training with The Om Lounge in 2020, In class, you can expect intentional movements that lead you on a journey. Lauren hopes to cultivate a friendly practice where students connect with their body and breath, while threading yogic philosophy in a modern way. Outside of The Om Lounge, Lauren works as a Customer Service Manager. She loves a good book, relaxing with her future husband and plant babies, cooking new recipes and eating LOTS of ice cream!Lauren has led workshops, class at retreats, special events and personalized classes for corporate events. She is thrilled to be joining the teaching staff and supporting new teachers !
Rebeka, a Pittsburgh native, first discovered yoga in high school. She had joined the lacrosse team with all her friends and on the third day of practice; they took a yoga class as part of conditioning. Immediately after finishing conditioning that day, Rebeka quit the lacrosse team, bought a membership at a local yoga studio, and never looked back. One could say it was love at first flow, which came as no surprise considering her background in dance and gymnastics. Her love of yoga only continued to grow in parallel with the stress of earning her degree in engineering. Yoga taught her to the importance of “me time” and escaping from the hustle and bustle of life even if it’s only for a few minutes.
Rebeka always dreamed of one day sharing her passion and secret to keeping her sanity with others, but it wasn’t until she discovered The Om Lounge that she knew it was time. After raving about the thoughtful, challenging, and creative flow paired with a dharma talk she’ll never forget in her first Om Lounge class, she signed up for 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training graduating in May 2021.
Shortly after graduating, Rebeka’s love of organization landed her the role as Studio Manger. With experience in customer service, she is always happy to assist studio yogis with anything they need. In Rebeka’s class, you can expect lots of sweat from a challenging and thoughtful vinyasa designed for yogis new or advanced to help them escape from reality - and a corny joke or two. Rebeka loves to offer her students a challenge but reminds us all that you have to start somewhere. Just like life, Rebeka feels that your yoga practice is also a journey and looks forward to guiding you through it. Rebeka loves to share this sentiment with new teachers as well as she holds a position on the Yoga Teacher Training staff.
Off the mat, Rebeka works as a sales and solutions engineer for a production company. Rebeka prides herself on knowing about all the new restaurant openings and activities going on around the city, so don’t hesitate to ask her for a recommendation. When she’s not teaching, working, eating, or dancing at a concert, she enjoys spending time outside and tending to her many house plants.
Alyssa first discovered yoga around 2011 when she was in high school. Her friend brought her to a class at their local studio. Right away, she was drawn to yoga’s focus on slowing down and quieting the mind. Seven years later, Alyssa decided to deepen her yoga practice by signing up for The OM Lounge’s 200-hour teacher training. She completed her training in May 2019 and now teaches weekly classes at The Om Lounge. Alyssa's classes consist of creative and thoughtful vinyasa flows that build from the ground up. Expect challenging asanas and fluid transitions, with an emphasis on mindfulness and meditation throughout class. Outside of yoga, Alyssa enjoys traveling, exploring Pittsburgh’s food scene, and playing with her cat, Milo.
